Greenville County is located in the state of South Carolina, United States. According to the 2000 censuse its population was 395,357 and its county seat is in the city of Greenville.

Greenville county has a total area of 795 square miles of which, 790 square miles of it is land and 5 square miles of it is water.

Adjacent Counties are Henderson County, North Carolina to the north, Polk County, North Carolina, in the northeast, Spartanburg County, South Carolina, in the east, Laurens County, South Carolina, in the southeast, Abbeville County, South Carolina to the south; Anderson County, South Carolina, in the southwest; Pickens County, South Carolina in the west and Transylvania County, North Carolina located to the northwest.

According to the 2000 census Greenville SC is the largest ciyt with a pop of 56,002, followed by Greer with 16,843, Mauldin 15,224, Simpsonville with 14,352, Fountain Inn with 6,017 and Travelers Rest with a population of 4,099
